April Goals

I recently joined a group on MyFitnessPal that requested we list our goals for April. I decided to list them here as well because writing goals down sometimes makes them more attainable.

(1) Start running again to train for my 5K on the 29th.
(2) Get below 180 (Even though this was supposed to be met in March, I WILL meet it this month.)
(3) Keep switching up my exercise routines and stay on track with my new zig zag calorie plan.

Come on, April. Bring it on.

Lenten Update

Well, it's been almost 3 weeks since the beginning of Lent, and I've successfully kept up my resolutions. I haven't stepped on the scale ONCE since before Ash Wednesday, and I've exercised at least 30 minutes everyday (minus my procedure day). It's actually really nice to not stress about the number I'm going to see on the scale every Thursday morning. Even after Lent, I might change my routine to weighing only once a month; it's so nice to just focus on my eating and exercise goals and feel better about myself.

I did set a goal of weighing under 180 lbs by the end of Winter Quarter so I will step on the scale once during Lent just to see if I met that goal. I'll probably do that either this Thursday or Sunday, only because Spring Break is the following week and my fiance is coming. I'm sure I won't be keeping track of calories, but I will keep up my 30 minutes everyday! The weather has been so nice lately that I'm sure we will be doing lots of hiking and walking around while he's here (assuming it stays this way).

Just wanted to write something since it's been a while. Cheers!

I'm Back!

It's 2012, and I'm back at school. I actually survived Christmas break and even LOST weight during that time (though I had a nasty stomach bug that didn't allow me to eat). Because of that sickness, I couldn't really work out either so I'm slowly getting back into a routine. I started my second round of 30 Day Shred instead of running. I also found out that I am 5'9 instead of 5'10 like I always thought, which means another 10-15lbs to get inside the healthly BMI range. Blah.

Anyways, here are my stats for yesterday's weigh-in:
Weight=185.4 lbs; BMI=27.38 (Overweight); Body Fat=26.19% (Acceptable)

Hello 180s, it's been too long

I haven't weighed in since the week before my boyfriend came, which was three weeks ago. Basically, I was on my period and bloated, and then I wasn't really logging foods since Robbie was here. But for the last week, I've been kicked back into gear.

Today's weight=188 lbs
I about fell off the damn scale. I got on yesterday and it said 190. THAT made me excited. Then, the first time I got on the scale this morning, it read 189.2. THAT made me more excited. When I get on the second time to confirm, it was 188 lbs. Three more times confirms. HOLY FUCKING GOD, I'm back in the 180s.

This also means I've crossed two goals off my list: reaching 190 lbs and being under 190 by New Years. BOOM BITCHES. Early. The hard part really comes when I have to maintain this eating style while I'm home for a month and a half. Ugh.

Weight=188 lbs;BMI = 26.97 (Overweight); Body Fat=26.51% (Acceptable).

Last day of Pushup Challenge

Today is day 30 of my 100 pushup/day challenge. Remember a few posts ago when I pondered trying to do 50 pushups in a row on my last day? Well, at the gym this morning I went for it and BAM, 50 straight! (albeit on my knees, it still counts!)

I don't think there has been too much change in the appearance of my arms (sad face), but I definitely got stronger. I'll take measurements tomorrow or something to see, but it's doubtful. Just wanted to post my 50 pushups victory. Only 36 more to go today until it's DONE.

I'M GOING TO PUMP *clap* YOU UP!

If anyone knows what my title is from, we will be friends forever. I picture it EVERY TIME I talk about pumping iron. Hah. I thought since I was over the halfway point of my 100 pushups challenge, I would briefly update my progress.

I haven't measured or taken any pictures since I started, BUT I've noticed a stamina difference. First, let's clarify that I'm only doing knee pushups...not real ones. When I first started the challenge, I had to break them up into 5 sets of 20, and the last set was usually a struggle to finish. Then I was doing 4 sets of 25. Then I missed a few days and was doing over 150 a day. (Oops) But for the past two days, I've done 3 sets of 30 and then a last set of 10. BOOM.

You know what would be awesome? Being able to do 50 in a row. I'm thinking maybe on my last day, I'll try that and see what happens. And who knows, maybe after these 30 days I'll be able to do a real pushup...? All right, that might be unrealistic. Ha.

GO PACKERS!

Run a 5K straight: Check

FINALLY. After a year of training myself to not only run, but run in elevation after living at 500 ft above sea level for 22 years, I RAN AN ENTIRE 5K WITHOUT STOPPING. Granted, it was on a treadmille and it was at a very slow pace, but DAMNIT I DID IT. I ran into a friend at the gym yesterday who is doing Race for the Cure tomorrow, and she ran 3.2 miles on the treadmill to "whip herself back into shape." That was it. I knew I was capable of running 3.1 miles so I set out to do it.

Walk 1 minute (0.05 miles) at 3mph
Jog 41:40 minutes (3.1 miles) at 4.5 mph
Walk 7:20 minutes (0.37 miles) at 3mph

Now it's time to shower, make dinner, and relax for a bit before hitting the books again. Ugh.

Another Weigh-In

Something very strange was happening with my stomach/gut last night and this morning, so I'm not sure how accurate this weigh-in is, but I still lost so I'll take it! The official weight this morning was 194.2lbs, which is only a 0.6lb loss from last week BUT....that marks the 40 lbs total loss since I started this journey in last June! FORTY POUNDS. (I did a whole picture post on MFP of my progress if you want to see that.)

But for this blog, I want to take a second to really think about how much 40 lbs is. When I was born, I weight 8 lbs and 6 oz. I LOST MORE THAN FOUR BABY MEs. I use a 10lb kettlebell in my workouts. I LOST FOUR OF THOSE. My boyfriend's cat is about the size of a 20 lb turkey. I LOST TWO OF STRETCH! I know these sound silly, but sometimes when you have a long weight loss journey, 40 lbs can get lost in the thoughts of "but I still look fat" and "I still have so much more to lose" or "how come when SHE loses 40 lbs, she looks like a f*&$ing model." Forty pounds is a lot. BE PROUD OF YOURSELF, ME!

Anyways, enough of that. I am proud, even though I do know I have so much more to go. And going off of that, I am starting the 100 push-up challenge today. I vow to do 100 pushups everyday for 30 days! I took some starting pictures of my arms in hopes that they will be BALLER AWESOME when I finish this! Ha.

Weight=194.2lbs; BMI= 27.86 (Overweight); Body Fat=26.65% (Acceptable)

Time to get moving for the day. Cheers!

Weigh In Day

Well, this was was actually the first week in a long time where I didn't step on the scale ONCE between weigh-ins. That made me very nervous since I had no idea what to expect this morning--and I'll tell you, I DEFINITELY wasn't expecting what I did see.

This morning official weight was 194.8lbs.... Pardon me while I get back up in to my chair. I didn't (and almost still don't) believe it. 2.8 lbs loss in a week? I'm thinking last week's weight might still have been affected my PMS or something because I ate all my calories everyday (and even more so on the weekend).

Regardless, I stepped on the scale twice and it didn't change so I'll take it as real.

With that note, I officially made my first goal, well second goal but first having to do with weight, for this school year: under 195 by Estes Park Film Festival: CHECK. I'm so FUCKING PUMPED. It gives me hope that I will be under 190 by Thanksgiving, haha. But that also means I need to put the computer down and do my workout before it gets too late--class at noon, office hours, TA class AND a baseball game today. Whew!

Weight=194.8lbs, BMI=27.95 (Overweight), BF=26.65% (Acceptable)

Cheers!

Autumn Goals

I know, I know, two blog posts in one day? Get a life, Keri. But I wanted to create a list of goals I have for the Fall. I had a few for the summer and didn't quite make those.
Goal #1: Run 100 miles. Ended up changing it to 50 miles and I think I'll hit that by September no problem. Perhaps if I counted all my exercise, like walking and biking, I would have hit 100 but I just traveled too much for it to even come close.

Goal #2: Under 200 lbs by June 23rd (DeLost family vacation). I was close, but again, no cigar. I think when I left for the vacation, I was around 202 lbs. But I really wanted to be UNDER 200. It took me another month to get under 200 lbs. All this vacationing needs to stop. Haha. Good thing I've got a whole quarter to stay put before I head home again.

Goal #3: Finish 30 Day Shred. THIS I COMPLETED! :)

So not horrible, but I could have done better. So I'm making a list of goals for the Fall Quarter. I'm trying to make them smaller so they are more achievable this time around. I might add some later and some might me amended later, but for now, here we are:

Goal #1: 195 lbs by September 16th (my first film festival)

Goal #2: 190 lbs by end of Fall Quarter, Nov 20th-ish (you like how I'm giving myself two months to lose 5lbs? haha.)

Goal #3: Need to buy new pants before I go home

Goal #4: NOT GAIN IT ALL BACK WHILE I'M AT HOME. I want to be lookin' good when I head to Williamsburg with Robs & his family for New Years. :)

Four Day Weekend

Well, my internship boss just emailed me and told me not to come in anymore this week. Basically, I've researched four cities only to have them get rejected by the network. So until they get their shit together and decide on the final two cities, I really have nothing to do. I don't know what I'm going to do with all this free time...

That being said, I thought I'd blog about my past few exercise days. After that super run on Tuesday, I decided to take yesterday a little easy. I didn't do SIWW, instead waiting until after work to go to the gym and walk on the treadmill. I did half a mile at 3mph at 10 incline, then half a mile at 3mph at 7 incline, then half a mile at 3mph at 3 incline, and then another five minutes at 3mph at 0 incline as a cool down. Then I did some serious stretching on my legs.

Luckily, it must have paid off because I felt good enough to do SIWW this morning. And now that I don't have to go to work today, I think I'm going to go get quarters and do laundry. Maybe vacuum. Then hopefully bike or run or something later to get my extra cardio in.

Robs asked me to spend New Year's with him in Williamsburg, so I'm really trying to buckle down this school year and lose another 10 lbs before then. For anyone else, 10 lbs in like four months would be easy but I seem to be building muscle faster than I can burn fat so it's a slow process--but I have some sick calf muscles! Maybe I'll post a picture later. Haha.

Anyways, time to get a move on.
